FBLA thinks the National Society of Film Critics is smoking crack in between votes for its awards with its first-ever animated or documentary best picture award for "Waltz with Bashir," said Tom O'Neil's Gold Derby ratings in the L.A. Times.
We like the film anyway, but think it's oddly political that the film which trashes the Israelis for invading Gaza in the early 1980s is given the award the same day Israel invaded Gaza again.
Those National Critics have always been cantankerous ever since they were banned from the New York Film Critics Circle in 1966.
This year, the critics were also doling out votes for every oddball entry in this year's crop of films, including a best actress vote for the robot Eva in "Wall-E" and a best actor nod for head-cracker Jean-Claude Van Damme.
