R&B star Chris Brown is attempting to shed his bad boy image following his well-publicized fight with Rihanna last year - he's offered to read to schoolchildren in a tough area of New York. Brown, who is currently serving five years probation for beating his ex-lover in February, 2009, was recently approached by the principal of the Big Apple's Sisulu-Walker Charter School, who invited the singer to join in the annual Family Read Night Event next week.
And Brown - who was also ordered to carry out 180 days community service for the attack - accepted the offer, and will attend the evening to encourage youngsters to love literature.
However, despite the controversies surrounding Brown, parents of children at the school in Harlem are not fazed - with one mother insisting everybody deserves a second chance.
It is not known whether the event will count towards Brown's community service.
